The proposals from different companies were approvedby the State Level Single Window Clearance Committee (SLWCC)headed by Chief Secretary B K Patnaik.
Of the total Rs 3,400 crore investment proposalsapproved by the SLSWCC, Rs 2,870 crore would be in the steelsector, said industries secretary T Ramachandru.
Among other projects, SLWCC approved a proposal fromTata Steel to set up a re-bar mill and a hi-carbon ferrochromeunit at its Gopalpur SEZ in Ganjam district. The steel majorwould invest Rs 800 crore in the project, he said.
While the Tata Steel was planning to manufacture 4lakh metric ton of re-bar mill per annum from its re-bar millunit, it would produce 55,000 metric tons of hi-carbonferrochrome at the Gopalpur SEZ to be set up by the company.
